Stendhal syndrome: Can art really be so beautiful it makes you ill?

Stendhal syndrome is a medical condition seemingly specific to the city of Florence where people become ill after observing too much beauty. Named after the French novelist and critic 'Stendhal' who got sick from the art in 1817.
